When someone states that they have full coverage, what does that mean? The short answer is that person has Bodily Injury, Property Damage, Comprehensive and Collision coverage. The term Full Coverage is misleading. You can by definition have full coverage and not have Medical Payments, Uninsured Motorist, Rental Car or Towing coverage. This coverage is optional and may or may not be included in someone’s policy. Also, the term Full Coverage does not address the limits of each coverage that a person has. They may have high limits or they may have low limits. So the next time someone says that they have full coverage, dig a little deeper to see what coverage they really have.
